Agents move into your bank, your job and your trips

AI agents are programs that act for you. This week, they moved closer to your money, your work and your face. Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude. It connects to your bank and card accounts through Plaid, a service that links apps to banks. You can ask "where did my money go this month" and get an overview.

Perplexity launched "Teammates", always-on work agents that can take several roles in a workspace and reuse your projects, skills and memory. Meta's Muse agent now does real-time voice, and US users can video chat with its animated avatar, ahead of a Tamagotchi-like wearable. Airbnb says its own travel agent comes in the first half of 2027, to plan trips, compare options, manage bookings and help during your stay.

A Tamagotchi for your AI agent. I lost three of those little pets as a kid, so I am not sure I am ready for this responsibility.

Why it matters

Each new tool asks for a bit more trust: bank data, work files, your voice. In the same week, we saw a coding agent reported to share emails and a model that quietly does worse on safety tasks. Before you connect your bank, read what is shared, and make sure you can disconnect.
